Suw over at Chocolate and Vodka has made two posts about data retention in The UK, France, Ireland and Sweden. The short one says “40,000 terabytes of useless, illegal communications traffic surveillance data, paid for by you, the surveilled.” The long one goes into much more detail about some legislation which to me seems to be a pretty scary concept. It would effectively mean that loads of people would be able to track & store your electronic data & movements and there’s very little you could do about it.
Have a read and if you don’t like the idea then sign the EDRI petition against it.
