Well it appears that that may well be a slight understatement, in the last 24 hours it has snowed 55 inches, giving a storm total so far of 88 inches! That’s a total of 21 inches over the top of my head and doesn’t include the base they already had of about 7 foot.
Roll on February 4th! Leah, don’t let it all melt before we get there!
Oh and here’s the snow report from the lovely people at www.mammothmountain.com
WOW!
Snow Report for Monday Jan 2
How do you put into words a morning like this……..it’s simply incredible! There is so much snow out there that we will be unable to open the ski area until 10 a.m. this morning. The snow began coming down yesterday and covered the entire mountain with over 50 inches overnight. In 48 hours, we have received over 7 feet of new snow…..you’ll have to see it to believe it!This is how the story goes for me………………. As I opened my front door this morning, I was greeted with WAIST DEEP snow. I couldn’t help but dive face first into the best snow this Louisiana girl has ever seen. After the fun, I began shoveling like crazy. Props to the snow cat that showed up just in time to plow our driveway and push us right out. The drive up to Main Lodge was surreal. Lift crews are cranking up those towers and ski patrol is blasting away as we prepare to ride in the deepest base in the U.S. We now have a 10-12 foot base of packed-powder and machine groomed snow under powder, powder and more powder. Our base is still piling up as snow is expected to continue falling all day.
Whoah! That looks amazing! I wish I was there – I bet it doesn’t hurt half as much falling over in that!
It was a pretty spectacular storm. I’ve stored some snow in the freezer for you!
Don’t worry we’ve got some extra storms coming our way so the snow should be cool for you. I’ve also got mother nature on speed dial!!
