Two years is too long

Well we made it to Tignes yesterday morning after travelling on the Eurostar overnight. The train was delayed in arrival by about 2 hours but we still managed to be on the piste riding before lunch.

Of course Saturday was a glorious day, bright sunshine and quite warm. So typically we were riding in our down-filled jackets rather than something lighter, I think I’ll pack hot weather clothes closer to the top of the bags next trip.

Today has been brilliant, we rode from 9am to 4pm and as you can imagine it’s been a bit of a shock to the system having not ridden further than about 200m at anyone time for the last 2 years. In fact I think the first run we had down from the Grand Motte to Val Claret is probably further than the total of all my runs in the last year. I have a feeling I’m going to ache tomorrow!

The light’s been flat today and the wind picked up after lunch so it’s been a bit of a struggle to comfortably see where I’m going all of the time. My new contact lenses have definitely helped and made things easier though. I actually feel much more confident that I’ll be able to see slope variations before I hit them in future. I also managed to get a shiny new pair of Electric goggles, the flat light lenses that came with them have worked a treat, and hopefully tomorrow I’ll get the chance to try the bright weather lenses as sun-shine is apparently the order of the day. With a bit of luck I may get to work on my goggle tan as well.

So here’s a picture of me on the chairlift,

I’m also building up a set on Flickr so keep an eye on that for new additions as the week progresses.
