Janathon returns

janathon-participant-logo2016 is almost with us and with it will come Janathon.  I did Janathon for the first time last year and met some lovely people, who not only encouraged me throughout Janathon and Juneathon but also some of my marathons too!

This year there is no Jantastic (no funding, maybe it will come back next year), but in all honesty I don’t really struggle to commit to the running side of things (which was the focus of Jantastic).  Janathon however will hopefully help me out in other areas.  It should help me with some blogging consistency (the rules are you need to blog or Tweet/Facebook an update everyday throughout January) and make me commit to doing some extra fitnessy stuff (as you need to do something fitness related each day so you have something to blog about).

I am currently race free in January (although I am helping out at two SVN events), so my focus is going to be to run 4 times each week, do a minimum of 30 minutes yoga a day, get to the gym for some weights workouts and do some squats and press-ups.  Of course it all sounds easy when you type it out, but throw work, 2 Open University modules and laziness into the mix and it all becomes a bit more of a challenge!

Are you looking to kick-start your 2016 with a focus on fitness and blogging?  Why not sign-up for Janathon as well.  It’s a great opportunity to read about the struggles of others and get some good ideas too.  You can sign-up here, and if you aren’t yet convinced why not take a look at the rules here.

image of TrainAsONE assessment summaryI am continuing with my TrainAsONE beta testing in 2016 and to make sure I start off on the right foot I have set up my first goal race of the year, the Good, the Bad and the Ugly on 21st February and spent my Bank Holiday morning getting my 6 minute assessment run done.  It was not the easiest of assessments as I needed to get it done locally and on trail as the track wasn’t open and I figured it was better to get the run done and dusted, and give my legs and lungs a chance to recover before Thursday’s “off-plan” marathon.  Still, I got it done and can now have a lazy couple of days before I run the Flitch Way to close the year out.

Spread the love
